NC4Marriage

NC4Marriage is a statewide coalition of North Carolina citizens, churches, ministry and denominational leaders, policy organizations, and political leaders who will work together to get a Marriage Protection Amendment bill passed by the General Assembly, so the people of our State have the opportunity to put the true definition of marriage in our State Constitution.

North Carolina remains the only state in the southern United States without an amendment in our State Constitution protecting marriage as the union of only a man and a woman. This makes North Carolina a target for a lawsuit by homosexual activists that would redefine marriage to include same-sex unions.

Without a provision in our State Constitution protecting marriage, any court in North Carolina can overturn our marriage statutes and usher in same-sex "marriage" just as state courts in California, Connecticut and Massachusetts have done. It is time for our lawmakers to give North Carolinians the same opportunity enjoyed by the citizens of 30 other states—the chance to vote on a Marriage Protection Amendment that will preserve our state’s strong marriage laws. Contact your legislators now and ask them to support the Defense of Marriage Act that would give you the opportunity to vote on an Amendment to our State Constitution providing that: "Marriage between a man and a woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State."

Community Baptist Church feels it is our responsiblity and privilege to stand up for the sanctity of marriage as an institution created by God between one man and one woman. For this very reason it deserves to be cherished and defended. Here's how you can help:

  1. The "Defense of Marriage" Act is currently stuck in committee with, we're sure, hopes that it will be forgotten. It needs help to get moving again and that might happen by contacting the leaders of these committees and showing our support for this legislation.

Click here to print out letters which can be mailed (this method takes a little more time but letters carry much more weight with legislators!)

Click here to send e-mail to the committee leaders (this method is quick and easy but won't have as much impact as a real letter).

Remember, there's nothing preventing you from sending both letters and e-mail to these committee leaders!

  2. To contact your NC representatives regarding support for this legislation, please follow these instructions:

    • Click here to open a new browser window then return here to read the rest of these instructions
    • Scroll to the bottom of the new window page and click on the 'Take Action' button
    • Fill in all of the 'USER PROFILE' data in the red fields (this is used to find out who your congressional representatives are). When done, click on the 'Continue' button
    • Review the letter that will be sent to your representatives. If you choose to add any comments of your own, please remember to be respectful and to the point
    • When done, click on the 'Send Message' button
    • If you wish to send this information to others, simply click on the 'Click here' link above, scroll to the bottom of the new page and click on the 'Email this Alert to a Friend' link

Thank you for taking part in defending the sanctity of marriage as created by God and specified clearly in His word!
